CRIVITZ YOUTH, INC.
SERVING THE COMMUNITY FOR 50 PLUS YEARS
About CYI
In 1970, Nancy Ransom saw a need to create a community center where young people could gather and participate in activities. Crivitz Youth, Inc. (CYI) was established in 1971 by Nancy Buck Ransom and her mother. As a child, Nancy spent her summers in the Crivitz area and developed a love for the northwoods and its residents. As an adult, she continued to vacation and visit the Crivitz area.
Using her own funds and the monies from members of her family, she worked with community members to open the CYI Teen Center in 1972. In 1981 a Preschool Program was started, in 1997 the Child Development Center was opened and in 2013 the Community Center was added to the CYI campus.
The Teen Center was opened in 1972 by Crivitz Youth, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality programs and opportunities for the young people of the Crivitz area.
The Child Development Center was commissioned by Crivitz Youth, Inc. President, Nancy Buck Ransom, and construction began in 1995. The success of the project is due to the detailed concerns of Mrs. Ransom, along with a well designed building, considerate of its occupants, and the center's outstanding childcare program.
The CYI Community Center will:
promote and provide quality, affordable activities and services that will contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of the community.
